This is a great idea! I'm in for 2014. I've counted up my UFO's and there are 12 of them.....not as bad as I thought (LOL). I have a bad habit of starting a quilt and then getting distracted by something new and setting things aside to work on new things. I really need to finish all the UFO's and clear some space in my bins and on my shelves for new ones (because I know there will be some more created). I've got two retreats and several classes scheduled this year that will result in new projects being started so I have to finish the older ones so I have something to show my DH for all the time I spend sewing! Looking forward to participating in this group and hopefully posting lots of finishes.

I'm In!! My last count was 14....and do we count the projects for which we've set aside fabric and pattern in a bag or a box?
Looking forward to seeing all the finished ones. Happy New Year everyone!

We are going back on the road - living on wheels - and I have been going thru my stash, cutting it all down to certain sizes, and deciding just how much I can squeeze in to "my" space. I found a number of UFO's so this will be great for me. I am gathering up my patterns and being realistic about what I would actually do and then matching it up with fabric and putting all together.
This will give me a group of fellow quilters to hang with while we travel - thanks!

My local quilt shop is having a contest for 2014. We pay $1.00 (sometimes $2) for each project we finish --- at the end of the year the shop matches our dollar amount and we spend that in the store. For 2013 I earned $143.00. Finished 59 projects last year. My list this year consists only of quilts or sewing projects that I have already started -- I have about 54 listed. I have my strategy planned already -- The quilts that are pinned and ready to quilt and bind will be the first to be finished. Then I will work on the quilts that need backings made, then pinned, quilted and bound. Just yesterday I completed 20 blocks of a quilt that I started last year. I figure even if I don't finish a quilt if I work on it then it is that much closer to being finished.

What you count as a UFO is entirely up to you. Most of us consider just having the fabric and pattern doesn't count. IMHO, to be unfinished, it has to be something I have actually started on in some way. Just buying fabric and pattern isn't starting for me. LOL
If I have, for example, pulled all the scraps that would go with some purchased fabric, kept it all out where I can get at it, cut some strips or made a sample block... then set it aside because something better came up.... ta daaaaaa.... UFO. But again, each person is able to define their UFO's as they wish. Some consider a quilt kit as a UFO. I've never had one, but if I did, I don't think it would become a UFO until I started it, then put it back and left it sitting.

So you see, our "rules" are few and you get to pick what works for you. It's all good for this group, as long as we get to cheer for you when you post your finishes!!!

Happy New Year, everyone! I'd like to join in, too. I'm kinda afraid to count up my UFOS cause I've been quilting since the Bicentennial, and there are quite a few of them! But what I think I'm going to do is to sort through my sewing room and collect all of the "recent" ones. Take stock and see what I have and plan from there. That's my goal for today. Okay, I'm committing to you and these members(if you'll have me)!!! (trembling as I head to the post button)!

At our guild meetings, we have an adoption table for unwanted projects / fabrics / quilt magazines. It's a great way to share (and to palm off stuff). Be careful though or you might take home more than you brought. Be firm with you "material" self. Experience speaking, but I plan to take my own advice this year.
