Default 2014 UFO Therapy Thread - Sister Thread to 2014 UFO Challenge of the Month

Hi and welcome to the 2014 UFO Therapy Thread! The what???

Annually, a group of us band together to accept the challenge of finishing 1 UFO (Unfinished Object) per month.

Don't have a UFO? Then maybe you have a WIP (Work in Progress) or a PIG (Project in a Bag). They go by many names, they hide in dark spaces and MULTIPLY!

Please accept the 2014 challenge and post those finishes here: 2014 UFO Challenge of the Month

Take credit for your work and let us all ooooh and ahhhh and of course ring the "job well done" bell!

Some of us may need some help along the way. Let's work through it together.

Can't decide on a layout? Post it here!

Don't know which borders to use? Post it here!

Have an amazing WIP that you are dying to share? Post it here!

Can't stand a project and just want to trade or give it away? Post it here!

This is our work group to get the lead out and get those finishes for 2014.

Why a separate thread? The main thread's focus has typically been on finished products. We can trial this separate thread to focus on getting to finished products, but of course, we all reserve the right to finish those UFOs by any means necessary!

Now let's get out there and share what we are working on and get 'em done.

I've taken the liberty of cut and pasting Fraew's post that opened the 2013 thread so that we can get the UFO ball rolling and share what we are working on.

I've got a Christmas quilt ready to sandwich - this is Christmas Strings made from 6" finished blocks. I had about 60 blocks from an online swap and I decided to go bigger for a nice lap quilt size so made up more blocks in December to get to 120. I'm going to use fleece for one step batting & backing and hope to get started walking foot quilting it tomorrow.

I would like to give this challenge a try! I have 7 quilt tops completed, but need to quilt them. After moving at the end of May, I have not been able to do any quilting, but, now my dear hubby has my quilting studio and frame set up and I think I can get the lead out! Hopefully being answerable to you all will help me get them done. Oh, and I also have several WIP's to get moving on as well!

I'll sign on in hopes that some of the small quilts that are just needing to be quilted can get done. After a day in the sewing room, it's dismal to see how many tops are done and just need me to complete them. Thanks for starting this.

Terrific, I have a host of UFOs and PIGs. It's almost enough to make me avoid my sewing area. I really feel that I have too much and need to do something about it. I have several ready for quilting, I have many that I need to purchase backs for and still more that are in pieces. I felt a little ill when I was tidying and discovered that I have four tubs of fabric. Eeek, I need to take care of these others so I can play with my saved fabric.

High 5 asimplelife! I am very glad that you started the thread.

    2013 in review:
    4 finishes
6 starts (1 made it to a finish)
    5 ready for binding (1 from 2012)
    41 UFOs (includes kits)

Clearly my start/finish ratio is off! I am working on joining siggy swap blocks and using basket blocks from another project. A two fer one when I get it done.

Fraew - I love the rainbow you have created! How big are those blocks? I can't wait to see this one come together.

I'm claiming 43 UFOs to start the year - I found a few MIAs while cleaning out a closet and I had several WIPs I started in 2013. 7 of the new UFOs are from a Rainbow Scrap Challenge I participated in - 140 blocks made. I should have budgeted my time better to assemble & quilt some of them during the year... lesson learned!

Thank you. We did a board swap in 2012 but it took forever for me to find the right setting. Thank goodness for Google! 4" finished blocks.

I finished 19 projects last year, according to my latest count (but I think some are missing). Only 3 of those were previous UFOs and the rest were new starts last year. In addition, I added 9 quilt tops to my pile of UFOs. I have no idea how many are still hiding in the closet from earlier years - at least 4 off the top of my head. And in the past 2 days, I've added 3 more tops to the list. So, lots of finishing to get done this year.

I think what I need is a moratium on new projects, so I can get some done. When I bought my longarm 1.5 years ago, I had a stack of 7 quilts by the time it arrived (prior to that, I didn't do UFOs - eveything was done before I started another). I told myself I'd get one off the list, for every one on. Apparently that didn't work too well, since I added 9 this year and only pulled 3 off the old pile.
