Bibliostone, I was thinking the same as Emma, that maybe a thin border on the peacock would set it off. Maybe in gold so it wouldn't interfere with the border. Otherwise, I agree with you that the second one works best. Those peacocks are so beautiful!

Pippa, Love your center and your stripes are perfect. I usually try to avoid stripped material because it shows so much when you're off.

Dotcom, That is going to be so pretty. Love your colors.

Thanks everyone for your input. I'm leaving tomorrow for New Zealand and will be gone for most of the month. That will give me lots of time to think about any changes.

Emma, I did notice the blue fabric when you posted your block. With all the fabric out there, I seldom see duplicates to the fabric that I have.

I'm using up stash so some of my rounds will depend on how much of a certain fabric I have. That darker blue doesn't show well, but it actually has swirlly peacock feathers in it. But I only have scraps of it so it had to go on the first border.

Talk to all again in Feb.

I'm doing jaba's hour glass blocks for the first round. I usually try to learn something when I do these mystery, or BOM, and I always do. glad I made a few hour glass blocks, then sewed them together before I made them all. that helped me, see what I could improve on. if you aren't super careful with cutting, and sewing VERY accurate 1/4" seams, you lose your pts. (but I know how to find them) as long as no one takes a ruler to my blocks!!!
don't be bashful about trying the hour glass blocks. pic tomorrow.

Fun thread and some very nice work so far. Elisabrat I hope things go well for you on your transplant and Pippa I hope you mend well and soon.
I'm very tempted to join in but I might be biting off more than I can chew. I'm already working on a quilt for our BR and signed on for the 2014 quilts for quilters swap.

Biblio, Pippa and Dot, those are some wonderful looking blocks and colors. It's hard to wait for months end to see more borders and colors popping all over.

Finally done with my center. Decided to go Batik scrappy. This took me way too many hours. The first border will have to wait a bit. I need to make 3 baby girl quilts for 3 great nieces due this spring. One should be done for a baby shower on feb 1.
I am loving everyone's quilts so far.
