I tend to cut most of my pieces on the bias which means less clipping therefore no fraying and using small stitches - hope you enjoy your project, I love needleturn so relaxing

I don't imagine the Fray Block is any easier to sew through than Fray Check. It's just that it dries pliable (like a soft plastic), not hard.

Love needle turn. I use a little dab of washable glue on the end of the needle and run it along the edge (about an inch) depending on how fast you needle turn for a beginner. Keeps from fraying.

Mark my piece carefully on the right side, then I cut out my shape with a generous seam allowance... Once the applique is placed, then I cut a closer seam allowance, just enough for me to turn and stitch, using tiny stitches like others have said. By trimming just before turning and stitching nothing frays... Once Ive stitched that small amount, I cut more. I also try to keep those curves on the bias. It takes a little practice, but it is so much fun!!

Everyone makes needleturn so complicated, its silly. Our fore mothers worked it out, it's just needle, thread and fabric. I've been needle turning for 30yrs and have never needed glue, or fray check. You cut a small seam allowance, clip with fine scissors as you approach that curve, clipping to within a few threads of the sewing line, and increase your number of stitches as you work any curve or corner. Amazes me all these so called experts recommend products and methods, the only thing you need to perfect needleturn is PRACTICE!!
