    Default quilts out of shirts

    My husband passed away on May 14-2014 and I want to make quilts out of his shirts for our children. We have 4 children. I need ideas. thank you

    Sorry to hear your husband has passed away. The best site for free patterns I think is Bonnie Hunter's site. She uses cotton shirts and even has a video on how to "debone" a shirt. All her patterns are listed along the side of http://www.quiltville.com

    Condolences on your loss. I think it is a wonderful idea to use your husbands shirts and make quilts for your children. Bonnie Hunter is the expert on that topic. Please don't rush yourself to make the quilts. I set out with my father's necties to make a tie quilt. It took years for the loss to go away enough to cut up the ties. Take your time.

    Sorry for your loss. I made Dresden plate blocks from my mother-in-laws clothes. that turned out really nice. I even used her jeans and knitted cardigans. I used stabiliser under fabric with movement.

    Sorry for your loss hon. A friend of mine asked me to make 6 quilts out of her husband's shirts. I am on the 4th one now.
