I have a UFO that's been hanging around in my closet in block form for 2 years -- 24 completed 30's print Dresden Plate blocks and a pile of strip blocks for a piano key border to match it. I never could make up my mind how I wanted to set the blocks. Well, I just plunged in and completed the top this past weekend. Of course, "it" kept whispering to me, "You know I need to be hand-quilted, 'cause you're not skilled enough just yet to do me justice with your machine quilting." (The 10 snow white Kona blocks with nothing appliqued on them were really making noises about wanting some fancy stuff on them.)

So I'm going to set myself a reasonable goal of quilting 2 blocks each month by hand, since I'm really slow. That way I can speed several other projects and not get discouraged. I won't be finished by next January, but by summer of 2011 I will.

I am so excited.....I spent two days sewing on unfinished projects. Way to go to those of you who have already gotten things done.

I didn't realize how many trips I'll have to make to the LQS to buy coordinating fabrics for my unfinished blocks. This is going to be quite an undertaking. I taught block making at a local quilt store and "showed" the ladies how to finish their blocks into a quilt on a layout board but never actually finished them myself. I've got 3 years of "block teaching" projects to put together. When the classes were over I just put them into baggies and got ready for the next one. Oh my goodness, I'm overwhelmed because I've never pulled the bags all out at the same time. HELP

I am IN!! Although I would REALLY like to finish them ALL in a month or two....Other than new swaps I am not allowing myself to start a new quilt until all my UFO's (I have ten) are totally complete.

This sounds like a great idea. I think I will look through my stack and label them in order that I'd like to complete them, i.e. Jan, Feb, Mar,etc.
