For the past two years I have been buying a jelly roll for a big quilt I want to make for the bedroom - possibly wider and longer than a kingsize. I buy them only when I am on vacation with my sister and her family, and I have gotten them as gifts. So, I bought them and received them in the color of my bedroom - teal blue and pink, so I am fussy there. But I have three quilts to finish, one more to make from scratch and then I can start on my Strip Quilt. Really looking forward to it. I will be able to look at it and tell exactly where I got them and from whom.

I was just writing to a quilting friend that I have to cut some 2-1/2" strips today -- I ran out of binding for a quilt. That's another idea. I think a multi-colored binding on a quilt with a solid border would be lovely. Unfortunately for me I have multi-colored 5x5 charm packs for my border and needed a solid binding. But I think your color combination would be perfect for binding. Also, if I have extra fabric, I will make binding, tie it down with a ribbon and put it in the drawer marked "Binding" (so I don't lose it)!!!!!!! And save it so I don't have to go out and buy fabric for binding. My mother made binding out of leftover fabric she made in a quilt for me. It is a Sampler and the colors match so beautifully. It was a fantastic lesson for me to learn - that being that leftover pieces of the quilt can be used in binding. Smart Cookie that mother of mine. The minister of her church told us that Mom was the gatekeeper at the Pearly Gates. And I am sure she's binding something sitting there greeting her friends. Edie

I had a pkg. of jelly roll strips that I was not "in love" with. I saw a tutorial on MSQC & followed her instructions. I can't for the life of me remember what the name of the tute was called but it was pretty straight forward. I took 4 strips & joined together - I then cut them into squares (obviously by the width of the joined strips) - laid 1 square on top of the other but with strips going in the opposite direction - sewed 1/4" around the outside edge - cut them diagonally from corner to corner (basically cutting a big X ) & you end up with 4 smaller squares. Square them up & then you can join them to make your block in whatever configuration that you prefer. Looks scrappy but somewhat controlled scrappy. Hope this helps. I have to say that I quite like the finished quilt top & I did not like the jelly roll strips when I received them. You never know how things will look until you're done. What a surprise I got from strips that I did not like at the start.

I don't know this pattern but am interested. I googled it and got too many different ones. Do you have a pic you can share? If you've made it that many times it must be wonderful!

I am new to QAG so I have collected 4 different, but similar colors, jelly rolls and some larger pieces for borders, to make a sort of rail fence design, one quilted block at a time. I found an easy for me way to put them together and l the first one (as I was learning) only took a couple weeks from beginning to gifted. Can't beat that. When I do start the next one I am going to post a tutorial on this board if anyone wants to try the easy method I developed for me.
