Default Quick tute for squaring up a block.

I know there have to be others out there like me who find it hard to square up a block. I could make another quilt sometimes because it takes me so long.

I found this link today that appears to be an easy way to do this job and I wanted to share with you all.

I still don't understand. Where am I supposed to be looking at on the ruler to square up a block? Her middle lines are not centered with her quilt block. They are off to the left and up a little bit. Am I looking at this all wrong? Sorry I am a newbie quilter and this is just one of those skills that I haven't had the "aha" moment yet.
