Daughter volunteers at an animal shelter. I found this fabric and want to make a wall hanging for the shelter's lobby. I also have some paw print fabric I'd like to use. What block would you recommend that would highlight this fabric?
    TIA
    Barbara

Could you maybe print some pics of the animals onto fabric, then use your fabric as a background, with the pics on top, with maybe frames around the pics, some black, some red. Show us what you come up with.....great cause.

If you had something else animal themed you could do most any block that uses a light and dark.

How about disappearing 9 patch with the above fabric as the focus fabric that would show in larger pieces. Then red and black for the other two colors. I'm about to do on for my cat shelter to raffle off. I found a beautiful cat fabric at Walmart.

What about using sashing to create a frame and make them big enough to insert photos for the animals featured for the week. Would look almost like a square in a square. 2-3 for dogs and like wise for cats. That way a little history could be printed on the photo.

Something that we do in our guild is to save all of our scraps, batting, thread, etc. We then use fabrics we want to get rid of and cut two 14" squares. Sew around them, leave an opening, and stuff with leftover scraps. Sew the opening closed and all of a sudden, we have dog beds. I guess any size would do but this shelter asked for 14" squares to fit into the cages. The shelter just tosses them in the washer and dryer and uses them again. It has helped me to clean out my fabric easier because I will part with scraps for this project instead of keeping them. Check with your local shelters and find out if there is a need.

Cute black background paw prints would work well with your fabric.
