    Default Pre Cut measurement.

Where does the measuring begin if you want to have a 1/4" seam?.....at the tip or the valley of the pinking? This always confounds me as I don't always find pieces the same size and that little bit of difference from the tip to the valley can be quite important. Case in point....I had a layer cake and not all the pieces were 5" when I measured from the tip.......I had cut several squares in quarters before I realized this......Thanks for any answers here....

At the top but if you have charms, after pressing them you might want to check them with a square up ruler. I have been dealing with RK scraps from when they cut the layer cakes and it is very challenging.

I act as though the tip isn't there. That is also another reason I don't buy precuts.

Maybe measure the pieces and see what you come up with and go from there?

Agree with measuring first, as precuts vary. Measure from peaked tip to peaked tip. If some are too large, cut them down. If some are too small, you will have to adjust for that as you sew.
