This will be my second BH mystery.. Have to decide if I want the purple or if I should use blue. There is no purple in our home. Looking forward to getting started.

I picked out most of my fabric from my stash. Like many of you I choice to buy the focus fabric. I did not have fabric like that in my stash. I need to wash and iron my fabric over the next few weeks. I'll post pics as we sew along. Going back to lurking status.

This looks like so much fun. I'll be pulling fabric tomorrow. Probably for a lap size.

Where Bonnie is using purple and lavender, I am using blue and light blue. Where she is using yellowgreen I am substituting orangeyellow. She has yellow and I yellowgreen. Finally for her constant she is using magenta and I am using purple

Because there needs to be contrast between my orangeyellow and yellowgreen, I decided to make the orange yellow a constant. I thought of using a rusty orange but decided it wouldn't be a strong contrast with my greens. It is hard to discern in the picture, but the orangeyellow fabric is a pinstripe and I think it is going to pop against all the blues in the quilt. My constant is purple and it is a shot cotton and very pretty.

My thinking is that in Bonnie's colors she seems to have two sets of contrasting colors (according to the Ive's color wheel) purple and yellow green also magenta and green. So I have chosen blue and orangeyellow and purple and yellowgreen. Bonnie's post shows pictures that were her inspiration and she will have used lots of different fabrics in each color but this is how I interpreted it when trying to chose mine

well I've changed my mind - I think I will substitute this purple as it has some lighter magenta on it and more movement so it will contrast with my blues better.... Opinions, welcome.

I think that's a better choice. Your original purple was pretty close in value to you dark blues.

Love your final selection, Pagzz. I need to sub colors too, just haven't figured out what. I'm not a fan of purple.

Tweety, your fabrics are gorgeous. That magenta works so well with your other colors.

Pagzz, I love those shot cottons, but I agree the second purple is a better choice.

My DH and I have been remodeling our new home. Lots of trips to Lowes for paint chips etc. We are pretty much finished with the remodel - thank goodness. The other day I said to my DH that I needed to go to Lowes for paint chips. His response was, "PAINT CHIPS, what for now?" I told him for the mystery quilt and we both had a good laugh. He thought I wanted to paint more rooms! Nope, done with that!
