I'm counting down the days to Black Friday. I can't wait for this mystery to start! Last year's mystery was so enjoyable that I ordered the instructions for the Grand Illusion mystery from the previous year. This is what I did with the colors. I wasn't sure how the pink was going to play with the other fabrics, but I am very pleased with the results.

And this is how my Allietare turned out.

PandJ I also love the color combination you are going to use. Kassaundra I like the idea of the black as your neutral too. Getting excited!

    Those are great quilts, Splinter!

Can't wait to see Kass' with the black as neutral.

Quilters, your wonderful color choices amaze me. They've also been an inspiration for me to try this. I haven't been pleased with the results from the color choices I've made before. Not the pattern's fault, just the fabrics didn't play well once they got together. This is the first Bonnie Hunter mystery I will try, and I will probably be more of a lurker than a poster.

So I am asking for opinions. Below should be 2 photos. The stacks are the same. They match the paint chips. I believe they have enough contrast between the green and yellow. The light and dark purples may need some adjusting. Yes, most seem to be polka dots or small florals. That may need changing. I am most concerned about the constant. One has a gold sheen to the wheat motif, the other has a lot of white in it. Which will "play" better, do you think? And should I change some of the other fabrics?

I appreciate the help and constructive criticism is welcome. Thanks!

Hopefully you can tell details. I seem to get the photos either too small or too large. Again, thanks for your input.
    Cheers!

All2Pieces, I think your fabrics are lovely and wouldn't change any of them. As far as your constant, I think either would work, but am drawn more to the top one.

A2P, pretty fabrics... I'm sure either of your constants can work, but if it were me I'd rather have a magenta without so much white in it, such as a tonal. Just my opinion.

A2P, I like your choices, there looks to be plenty of contrast between all the separate colors. I prefer the top constant also, however what are your neutral choices, variations of white, or cream or grey???? If your neutrals are more on the white side the second constant might work better.

    All,
Thanks for the opinions. I like the gold sheen in the top photo also. Some of the purples have a touch of that gold, and some of the cream/off-whites that are mixed in my neutrals have a touch. I've gotten some new white TOT plus some that lean to the grey side with a silver shimmer, don't know for sure what will work best. At 87" by 87", I should be able to test a few of the combinations before committing to an overall scheme. Maybe. If not, I'll have a lap quilt or two.

I can't wait to see all of yours come together with the colors and fabrics you have all chosen. I look forward to BH's mystery every year there is only one that I did not really care for but that is okay it found a home at my sister in laws she loved it.

I am ready finished my last round on the round robin here on the QB. So this week will clean my machine, put in a new needle, and fill some bobbins, then fill up my bottle of best press, and put in a new blade in my rotary cutter. Ok my colors are going to be out of my scrap saver system that Bonnie uses. I do have some yardage pieces of her colors picked out and could make a half or 3/4 inch size. But some of my bins are overflowing and I have tons of blue (but I also have a lot of greens) so may use that in place of purple and keep all the other colors the same. I will wait until she release the clue next friday to make a decision if I have to about the blue or purple. I have made BH's. " Easy Street", " Lazy Sunday", 2 of" Celtic Solstice", "Grand Illusion", "Alletaire", I did go back and make "Orange Crush". Plus I have made a few other of her free patterns she has on her site and a couple from her books. Bonnie really has turned my life around. I use to only use yardage never scrappy but now I am converted and it is hard for me to do a very controlled quilt
