Pagzz, Make your dream become a reality, and don't leave it for 'someday.' Maybe someday won't ever come. :-) Check out eBay and craigslist and local thrift shops like Goodwill or Volunteers of America. My husband bought mine at an antique shop for $25, and it sews smoothly, like cutting through soft butter. If it's space in your home you are waiting for, the treadle cabinet is not so big. You just would need an area the size of 2 dining room chairs side by side, something like 18" x 36" maybe.

I know that sound, mawluv... "tickety, tickety, tickety". I have a 1908 Singer 66 Lotus treadle. I'm not using it for this quilt, but I need to get it back out and use it some. It's currently buried under another sewing machine on top of its cabinet and some other fabric and junk. Shameful, I know.
I'm putting last year's Allietare together upstairs on my Singer 301. Beautiful stitches there, too.

Great blocks, JeanieG and Tweety! Love the magentas you two have chosen.
I placed my treadle on a small wall between two long windows. The idea was to be able to sew with natural lighting should the power go out. We live out in the country and the power goes out often, whenever a tree falls onto a line or something. Sewing Survival Plan!

That's one reason why I want a treadle machine I've been keeping my eyes open in thrift stores and such. One day I might score lucky!

Tweety, trades, swaps, gifts get the dog-ear treatment at my home, but for my own sewing, generally I just leave them. It seems to me that the area where the dog-ears fall is no thicker than seam areas. And I don't trim the seams off! :-p
