I have really liked photos I've seen using a single square as the main block center; I'm trying out various neutrals. I like the purple you chose for the center.

Kass, that last layout looks really good!

    Your block looks great, sewbizgirl!

I'm questioning the function of the green and yellow sashing QST.

There is something bugging me about the lavender in the block QST. I'm going to try both light green and purple there; the purple was one I thought was too light to use as a purple, and too dark to use as a lavender. Maybe it will give that area more definition.

This has been a wonderful adventure with all of you! I'm loving seeing everyone's layouts and new ideas. Sometimes it helps to be a little bit behind as your many insights and tips are paving the way for the rest of us. I think I will use the softer yellows and a solid patch for the center too. Thank you ladies for sharing all your thoughts, pictures and new ideas.

Thanks NZquilter, I will work on making more triangles.

    Jeanie and SBG great blocks.

Those of you using a solid square for the center it looks to me like a great opportunity for a fussy cut center.

I too questioned the yellow in the qst sashing unit, if I were going to use it I was going to change that yellow to the same fabric as the "magenta"

I Do like this arrangement, seems so much calmer (wish I had thought of it lol). Also I love the pinwheel centre idea.

I'm looking forward to getting to this stage, still got loads of QST's to sew.....

I haven't cut the yellow yet and am auditioning both a bright and light. What do you think? I'm leaning towards the light, but am concerned it might be too close in value to the neutral. But the bright yellow just seems to overwhelm the block. All comments welcome -- thanks.

Belfrybat, I like the lighter yellow.

I am enjoying everyone's layouts and ideas.

What about an hour glass block in the center instead of a four patch?

    Quilts are fun!
I like your colors as I think that with a complete layout the oranges, browns and creams may become predominate.

Belfry, I suggest you add a layout of a couple of rows of the sashing before you decide on your yellow. Depending on what you are using as the magenta star fabric---that can really change how the colors mesh together.

Both are lovely, Belfrybat! I think that the lighter yellow would be the one I'd use. I love your blues too, btw
