Default Moment of Panic re Bernina 930 Record

I just bought one a week or so ago - and everything seemed fine - until I tried to drop the feed dogs.

Uh-oh. That knob is not moving.

Okay - it is turning - very very very reluctantly.

Long story short - after getting it to move - and moving it back and forth many times, it is moving freely.

    Whew!

After opening the cover and watching what happens when the feed dogs are dropped - what happens is a lot more complicated than I thought.

That's a great machine! I'm so glad you got it unstuck!

My # 1 rule for sewing machines is, lube everything that moves, or needs to. It has helped so many times. Congrats. Yes there is a lot of machinery to get feed dogs working.

I think the feed dogs will not come up again until the hand wheel is turned on this model. I don't have a 930 near me to check, but maybe someone else can confirm it. You might easily think something is wrong until you realise this.
