I spilled a wax melt on a quilted runner this week and I'm heart sick. I have ironed and ironed with tissue paper and a hot iron and a lot of it is gone but not nearly enough. I wondered if Dawn might work as the stain is greasy looking. Please give me any ideas you have had success with. Thanks in advance.

Have you tried ice? It hardens the wax and makes it easier to scrape off. I agree Dawn will help remove the greasy stain. I used Goop for grease stains on jeans and dungarees for many years but have not had the need to use it lately.

Have you tried putting it in the freezer ? Freeze it and see if you can get it to break off.

Lestoil! apply, work into the stain, launder, DON'T DRY IN THE DRYER, repeat until gone

How about Goo-Gone. Do you have a scrap of the fabric to make sure it doesn’t remove the color?

If all else fails, contact a good, reputable carpet cleaning company in your area. I'm on a first-name basis with my carpet cleaner, and he swears he can get anything out of carpet except rust. I had a candle spill in my nylon (awful) carpet and he was able to get it out.

My concern is if your candle was a dark color, like red or blue. Sometimes the dyes will leach into other fabrics, especially if you've heated it with an iron.

A piece of blotter paper may soak up the wax better than tissue paper would when you iron.

Thank you all for the comments. What I have left on it is in the fabric not on it. And it is on just a runner so right now my little tree is sitting on the place. I'll try other things after Christmas and let you know what happens.

I've heard brown paper bags and an iron - if you can find any brown paper bags any more. I know some places DO still carry them for groceries.
