Goodies - I like anything chocolate, but also pfeffernusse.

We sing "Stille Nacht" every year and I make pfeffernusse and stollen and lebkuchen. Would not be Christmas without them!

    So many favorites:
Religious: Joy to the World; Mary, Did You Know?; O Holy Night; The Nightingale's Song
Secular: Silver Bells (my mother's favorite)
Humorous: All I Want for Christmas is a Hippopotamus
    Instrumental: Carol of the Bells

I love Christmas music and have been known to play it all year round!

Favorite sweet: Carrot cake and Italian Cream Cake and cherry pie

Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and Holiday Season with a great New Year!

The molds used to make barley candy were cast iron & are no longer made. You can find them for sale as well, but you'll need a deep purse.

Once refined sugar became more available they stopped using barley sugar. The candy made now is now called Clear Toy Candy & has no barley in it.
Thank you for the web info, even if expensive they'll be worth it if they taste they way they used to. Thank you also for the recipe, may have to go hunting for molds.

Many beautiful songs fill my head every Christmas season but the favorite always is Anne Murray, the fabulous Canadian singer's, "If I had one wish this Christmas." It has even more special meaning since I have lost two amazing husbands but they are always with me! As to sweets and treats, I love Tipsy Cake but I miss making goodies with Mama even more than eating anything sweet!
