This is a picture of half of the top. I will have to take another when it's finished. This quilt is going to be raffled for a family at church for their medical bills. It's only throw size but I hope it brings in a lot of money for them. I wasn't sure what I was going to do with the quilt when it was finished. I just wanted to make it. Then I found the border fabric with stars in my scraps and I knew that was the perfect border. I asked the family to name the quilt and they came up with Painted Sky. I love the name. It's the perfect name. I feel this was all in God's plan and He will make sure she gets lots of money for it.

This is beautiful dd..... I really like the subtlety of the light blue focal fabric. Super job!

At last I am off the train and ready to show my mystery. I am having a play around with the final border and not happy with two fabrics that I auditioned yesterday but will have a dig around in my stash for more options. As you can see I used black as my consistent fabric in the QST blocks and went with black as the cornerstones.

I just love everything about this mystery. All the components went together so well - I did not need to do a bit of easing, pulling or stretching to make anything fit.

Thank you Judy for all your hard work and I look forward to catching the next train when it departs.

M-Fay: Beautiful quilt. Congratulations on the finish!

Dd: I am hoping lots of money is raised for Painted Sky. It is very pretty.

Busy Fingers: Choosing those borders can be tough. I know you will find the right combination for your pretty quilt.

There have been so many beautiful quilts!!
I thought I would show my three blocks now because it will be a LONG time before I am finished and a new train will be leaving soon.

I am making this out of a 10" layer cake. I don't know how big it will be but I will keep going until the cake is used up. I'm guessing that I will get eight or nine blocks out of it.
