I have a 690q (that I absolutely love) and it is kind of loud when cutting thread, but there is a place in the settings that you can turn off the sounds. It doesn’t bother me but my husband has commented that the sound it makes is loud so I turned it off.

Thank you for replying... I went to the sound and turned it off but this horn sound continues... maybe there's another area I've not found yet. I too love this machine, it's amazing...

I love my 980Q, too! Definitely my 'dream machine'.
Mine makes regular mechanical sounds when cutting the thread. I've never noticed a horn-ish sound.
May I suggest you call your dealer & let them listen to it while you are on the phone together.
Maybe they can suggest something - before they say 'bring it into the shop'.
    Good Luck!

Hi Donna... I did that and he said it sounded fine... the hitch is it didn't do it a few times and I tried as suggested above to turn off the 'sound'... The more I sew the more I don't want another machine... I Love It... I think my problem is I'm a musician and this horn/beep sound is an off tune B flat, LOL Maybe I need an attitude change!!! Thank you so very much for replying
