I mostly grab bag it too; but if I pull out the same thing I just used I'll grab another; I do try not to have the same color/pattern together. I've made several that I'm happy with - and didn't seem to even make a dent in the pile! They're like bunnies in reproduction!

Stop already. My fingers are itching. Need the ambition to get going.

I love the random from a bag but as each block is done my husband takes over to ‘rearrange’. He’s an architect and he can’t do scrappy. Me? I love it and have made several, truly pull it out of the bag quilts. Yep I will continue doing so, it’s my quilt! (my kids fight over whose it is every time )

When I do a strip quilt I like to put a black or white strip down the center. Then I make sure each square has different colors, until it is time to start again. Random scrappy quilts were hard for me to do as I like matchy matchy the best. Finally I was able to just put colors I liked together and just do it.

Julia you have been very busy. Glad you got back on this board.

I would never put scraps into a "bag". My scraps get laid out flat into a box. Pizza boxes work well and I have a few long narrow boxes to lay strings and strips out straight. I got a box from our flower store that is 10 X 4 X 38 inches long.
When I want to work with scraps, the last thing I want to do with them first is have to iron them.
