    Default Strippy summer quilt and OBW

    I needed a lightweight summer cover for my bed, and used some fabrics that I had put together and set aside more than 15 years ago.

    Made without a pattern. Two layers, no batting. The edges are faced. I learned that rulers are harder to control when there's no batting, and I do miss the definition that batting would have given. The quilting in the setting triangles doesn't show up at all, so that was wasted effort.

    Quilted with Aurifil on my Babylock Tiara and Janome 7700.

    The OBW was pieced in 2011. I'm not crazy about it, but at least it's no longer a UFO.

    Quilted with Affinity and Glide on my Tiara.

    I like all your quilts, but my favorite is the OBW. I'm partial to 9 patch as that was what my grandmother started me learning to quilt. I don't think I've seen one in that setting before.

    Two pretty quilts, and just love the OBW, so strikingly calm and vibrant altogether. Wish You would of shown the original fabric.

    both quilts are lovely. i love the strippy and the fabrics you used. i have tons of wonderful scraps ..i think your quilt may be the final push i need to finally make a strippy for me!
    oh ..and i love love the quilting design on the obw!

    Both are beautifully done...love the fabrics and self-designed pattern. Wonderful quilting on both projects.

    Your work is stunning and for me quite inspiring. Nice you shared your experience of not using batting for the light weight quilt and feeling your quilting efforts were wasted. There is something to be said for wanting that hard work to shine a bit, and without batting, it would tend to fall a bit flat. We learn best from things that don't go as we had envisioned them! That said, your finished quilts both look lovely. Your work still turned out great!
