Default What do you use to hang rulers and stencils?

We converted the garage into living space--we now have one large room with kitchen, two sitting areas, and my sewing space. I want to hang my rulers on the wall, but I don't know the best way to do this. I do have a basket that holds my 6" x 24" ruler, but for some of the other larger rulers like squares or stencils that need to be stored flat--how do you hang these? Thanks!

It might be useful to hang a peg board up there, then you could hang the rulers there. As you get more rulers or need more storage, you can just move the pegs around and hang what you need. We had one in our son's room along time ago. Painted the part with the holes with one color and then my husband "framed" the board with stained wood, so it looked nice on the wall. I still have that in the garage.....don't have enough wall space left for it in my sewing room....but someday....I might find a place for it. It's to pretty to not use somewhere!

I hang them using command strips then if I need to move them someplace else I can pull it off with no damage to wall and rehang wherever. I too converted my garage but into my sewing studio plus I needed a ramp to get out there and not enuf room yet for my cabinets. Must mean I have too much stuff right?

I hang my stencils on a belt hanger circle. It allows me to flip through them and get out the one I want. I must admit though that it has hung on my rod in the sewing room and I haven’t used a stencil for ages. My cutting rulers hang on my peg board and my machine quilting rulers are in a plastic storage box.

You can use the large binder clips. Fold the front clip down and use the back one to hang the ruler. I don't hang large rulers. They lay flat on a table top stored under my cutting table.

Other smaller rulers are stored in notebook zipper pouches. Then those are put in a metal magazine rack. Easy to see in the pouch and the directions are with the rulers.

I haven't done this yet, but am looking at putting up some command hooks and laying a curtain rod in them and then hanging all my scissors on s hooks and then on the second one my rulers. The holes in the rulers are too small to go over the s hooks so will tie a short piece of ribbon thru the rulers to hang them from. These will have mostly small rulers as I keep the larger ones in a ruler rack or guide (with grooves) on my table. They are the ones I use the most but will be able to hang them if I like. Just have to wash a spot with the vinegar as the command hooks say, let it dry and measure where I want to put the hooks. Then can lay the rulers on the hooks and start hanging stuff. Takes me a while to get some of my ideas implemented but I will get there. Been busy with the quilt club making those qults for the fire victiims and trying to get caught up and get some ahead so I can work on my own stuff.

Pegboard for larger rulers . Small, clear container near it for small rulers.

My husband put up a strip of woodwork, painted to match the wall, then put hooks, like cup hooks, into the strip, spaced out to accommodate my rulers. This is on the wall nearest my cutting table. It's very convenient and I like the way it looks.
