Our Joann's has a variety of cutters, cashiers, stockers - all with different levels of knowledge, patience, and manners. The last time I was there a very good cutter was cutting for a lady who obviously had no clue - the cutter was so wonderful with her. Several of us complimeneted her patience when the (not so much a sew-er) customer left. Hopefully that dear woman was able to finish her project!! On the other hand a friend of mine went in and tried to find someone to help her find stuff to begin quilting - the person she talked to said, "Oh, I know nothing about sewing (she was selling sewing machines for heaven's sake!) I'm sure someone else on the floor does." And did not even try to help her locate someone else to help her. The coupon system is just stupid and needs to be overhauled - I will NOT go to JA's for Black Friday - did it several years back and LOVED it - got great bargains - returned the next year - confusion reigned supreme with the coupon system - will not do it again.

I've never had a problem with JoAnns, although I don't get to go there too often.
I did catch on to putting my coupon on the item I want it used on, from trial & error. ;) I'd say their customer service is 'good enough', since I don't go in with questions.
All the material in the argyle quilt I recently posted was from JoAnns, and not a problem with any of it.
My only issue is I wish they'd get one closer to me! :) :)

I have a Joann's superstore near my work that I go to and a small one near my home. The superstore is pretty good, never had a problem. The smaller one seems to have SOME better staff but also a lot of very young people who don't know what you're talking about.

The last time I was in the small one there was a new lady and she didn't know a thing about sewing. She said that it was her "hobby job" just for something to do. She also said that she applied and 15 minutes later while driving home she got a call offering her the job.

Wow... like there wasn't one other person in this economy that applied for the job that had sewing experience?

I have to Agee with you. Not to mention the fact that the people at my store act as if they could care less if you are there or not

Most of our clerks are really young and also have the look when you start toward them, like please don't ask me anything and you might as well not, they don't know anything. Even if they don't know they should make a real effort to try to learn something about the products their employer sales.

I was in joanns yesterday because i didn't get enough of a flannel i was using. so that was all i needed. The lady that cut it said i don't think i've ever seen you only buy 1 piece of fabric. LOL They are always nice to me and ask what you are making. I have found that i can get the rotory blades at walmart for only 3 something. so it's cheaper than using the coupons at joanns...

A little kindess goes a long way doesn't it. Thanks so much for the great reminder, that we need to be a bit more considerate. I know when I was in the store Sunday the sales clerk was a bit aggraviated with all the changes that happens, diffrent producsts day to day changing she said, she was still nice enough and overworked I think! We need to remember how hard they do work and be a bit kinder for sure!
