    Default Ladies Who Lunch Recipes

I don't have guests up to my place very often, but my dau wants to bring her 80 year old friend up to my home for a lovely, afternoon lunch. (Guess who's the cook.) I said fine, but now I'm stumped as to what to make. I want it to be nice, something she can eat and yes, there will be wine. Got any ideas about a "ladies' luncheon" menu, or recipe?

Quiche and green salad with fruit for dessert. It's quick, healthy and you can serve as much or as little as you want.

Nothing spicy or very chewy. Chicken salad with a bowl of soup might be an option. Might be a good idea to get your daughter to ask the guest about her favorite foods.

Great minds think alike....Evidently Jeane was posting at the same time as I was writing. I like her recipe for chicken salad, but with grapes instead of the cranberries.

I was thinking more like My-ty. Except I would make a crustless quiche (also known as a frittatta) using eggs, veggies, cheese and perhaps some chopped ham. Serve with a green salad and rolls. Dessert--no bake cheesecake filling layered with fresh fruit and a bit of granola in parfait glasses.

Cream cheese and watercress sandwiches, of course! How about quiche and soup? Small side salad of mixed greens.

May be hard for her to eat nuts...just a thought.
    Brownies for dessert?

Jeanequilts, I am ready to make your chicken salad, but alas it is 6 AM and I am NOT going out shopping for the ingredients that early! Sounds so simple and tasty. Thank you for sharing. Lunch is only 6 hours away!

Hummm....all great suggestions...thanks! Looks like Quiche and chicken salad are the big "go tos." I love the cream cheese and watercress sandwiches idea...so English.

This woman is a pretty hip 80 year old. I think that she could tolerate some exotic foods, but maybe not the nuts, or super spicy stuff.
