Featherweight Table Question
#1
I came upon a Featherweight table in good condition and I will be selling it, as I use my Featherweight as a travel machine.
My question is, do people ship these things or is it best to try to just sell it around here?
It does have some wear...Is it better to refinish it before trying to sell it?
If I'm allowed to ask, what's a good price for a Featherweight table in good condition? In refinished condition?
Thanks!

My featherweight came with its table when I bought it. I paid $300 for the two together, but it was a long time ago, maybe 15 years. The table surface was in bad shape, so I did have it resurfaced. There's a table that has obviously been resurfaced on craigslist near me, asking price $250. I don't think the tables are in such high demand that it would be worth shipping them. If the table is in good condition, I wouldn't refinish it. I would have preferred to have the original finish on mine, but it just wasn't usable as it was. And now I almost never use it anyway!

AS to shipping, if the buyer pays, you can ship it anywhere. Be sure to say something like "shipping available but not included" in your ad if you're willing to take it to a shipper.
I suggest NOT refinishing it since many people don't like refurbished furniture or they want to do it for themselves.

I paid $80 for my FW table at an antique mall and it was in nearly perfect condition. However, I'd say most of them go for twice that much. I, personally, would never offer to ship such a thing, I don't even know how you'd crate it for shipping, it seems like the cost would be prohibitive and a huge headache as well. I'm willing to bet you'd find a buyer on your local Marketplace, I've sold many vintage machines that way without the hassles of shipping.
