Good morning. Unfortunately, I don’t have a thing under my needle at this time. My mojo has gone since DH broke his ankle and I had to pick up the slack. He’s walking on it now so I hope to get back to sewing soon. I do plan on putting a few plants in the ground in the next little bit. Just watching those low temps so I don’t do it too soon.

What’s up with everyone else? Hope you’re seeing signs of spring wherever you live.

I am working on a hunter's star quilt top. using some bright pastels (can I say "bright" and "pastel" together to describe one thing?) to inspire some spring like feelings. Weather has been really nice here and I have been able to do some weeding and trimming around the yard.

I have been working on getting my daughter-in-law's memory quilt of her father's clothes. Recently, he was found dead in his home when he didn't log into a Zoom meeting for work. Two years ago I did one for her father of her mother's clothes when she died. These quilts are so sad to work on but are very much appreciated by the family. I basted it today and will be able to try out my new Bernina Q20 on it tomorrow.

Good to hear from you JENNR8R, I was beginning to wonder if life had given you a serious bump in the road. What a gift you are preparing for your DIL. A quilt with a loved ones clothing is so kind of you and it may just help mend the grieving heart haveing their loved one near in cloth and memories..

Less than a week for our birthday girl this month!

Hi everyone. I’m in portland for the weekend. Went to two fabrics stores today, one called Bolt and the other Modern & Domestic, which was also a Bernina dealer. Between the two I bought about 4-1/2 yards of fabric. Which I don’t need but purchased anyway.

Jenn, very sorry to hear of your DIL’s loss. That’s a loving thing you’re doing for her.

in headed back to Seattle on Sunday. tomorrow is my friend’s 95th birthday so I will drive her wherever she wants to go for the day and then a celebratory dinner out.

Good to hear from you, JulieG, I am absolutely sure you can easily put 4.5 yds of fabric to work easily. I understand that some fabric just wants to come home with you. Have a grand weekend and celebration with your friend. Lucky gal, both of you. Good friends are beyond price.

Log cabin - I did that last year and loved the process. It helped me to slow down and appreciate all the effort you put into it.The xrays of my broken femur are amazing. each one shows how the bone slowly went back in place and now the new bone is being made stronger. Brace for another month followed by pt. I can move the arm more and always know when i went too far.
sure do miss all my sewing etc.

Here are pictures of the memory quilts I spoke about earlier.

The first picture is of a pillow I made with my daughter-in-law's (Erin) mother's pictures. I had ordered them from Spoonflower. When I told Erin that her mother's face would be quilted through if it were put in the memory quilt, she didn't want that. Instead I put them on a pillow. The really poignant part of this pillow is that two years later, when Erin's father died, she put it in his coffin for his head to rest on. It fit the space perfectly, and one could still see the pictures on either side of his face. My son said it was the most important thing I have ever sewn.

The second picture is the memory quilt made from the mother's clothes two years ago. She wore alot of funny t-shirts that are fun to read.

The third picture is the memory quilt made from the father's clothes that I just finished binding. I hope she loves it. Figuring out where to put all of the different size blocks was a challenge.
