Default Which cotton batting for small applique projects?

I've heard that a low loft/thin 100% cotton batting is a good choice for small wall hangings, door hangers and table runners. The low loft allows the applique and its stitching to stand out more than the quilting. It also provides a nice soft hand.

I've looked online and am overwhelmed by the variety of cotton batting. Some are considered 100% cotton but have polyester scrim, some of needled and others are not. I am having an issue finding batting described as thin or low loft 100% cotton.

    What works well for you?

I did find Air Lite but it is sold by the roll. Do you know any shop that sells it by the yard?

Thank you for your time and attention to my request.

I like Quilter's Dream 100% cotton in Request weight for things like wall hangings and table runners.

There is something to be said for using poly batting such as Soft & Bright from the Warm Company for those things. It doesn't retain fold marks, doesn't shrink, retains its shape very well, and is very durable.

I love Quilter's Dream products. They have the nicest very thin battings. I've used the Request and Select. The Request seems to be thinner and is very nice to work with.

I've always used Warm and Natural as it's what I have on hand. Doesn't matter if its a small or large project. I've been happy with it.
