Calling Reliable Iron Owners...how do you activate the override function??
#1
Well, the subject line pretty much says it all! After about 20+ years with the same ol' iron I finally had to buy a new one when it CAUGHT FIRE  a few weeks ago!! LOL!! Yes, the area where the cord connected to the iron was very worn and one day while ironing, it finally wore through and flames shot out of it!
After researching on this board and the 'net I bought the Reliable V100 Digital Velocity Iron. One of the things I liked about it was the ability to override the iron shutting down after non-use. Unfortunately, I can't seem to figure out how to do that. Duh! Can anyone tell me how?
thanks!!

I have one of those. I bought it about 2 mos ago. To override the auto shutoff press the button on the right side of the 3 lower ones. Hold it down until you hear the beep. Then it will not shut off on you.
I think this iron does not get as hot as my Black and Decker (which died in 10 mos) It is a very heavy iron. Normally I like the heavier irons but I recently had shoulder surgery on my right shoulder (I'm right handed) so handeling this iron has been a little tough on me.

Hey Gem:
Thanks so much! Tried it and it worked. :-D
My old one was aB&D too.....from the 80s!. This one is heavy but so far I'm handling it alright. Guess this is my equivalent to "pumping iron"!! LOL!!
