He can't fool me. :) (I made him this one because shortly after he bought me my new Bernina he asked if I would make him a "Texas quilt". He didn't give me any ideas of what he wanted, just something to do with Texas. He was born and raised in East Texas and is still a Texan at heart.)

It's waaaaay bigger than I wanted but that's my own fault. I bought the pattern from a lady over the phone and she just mentioned if I wanted it to be quilt size (not wall hanging size) I should make the squares 4 1/2". Did I bother I compute how big that would make this quilt though? Noooooo. :P I had planned some borders but after getting just the squares done, I decided against the borders, even though it would look better with them.
I can see why your husband said he likes the quilt. It's gorgeous! It may not be what you envisioned, but it might be way better then he was expecting. Give yourself a pat on the back. You did a wonderful job and can be proud of that beautiful quilt. :-)

I like it but if wanted you could add some Texas symbols in machine applique onto the cream areas..would break them up a bit if you are worriedabout it. I would use very simplified symbols!

I had exactly the same thought! The quilting is beautiful and I can understand your feeling it is a bit stark... With a few appliques I think you will have something that pleases your eye too!

    hee hee!!!

I think it is lovely and WE ARE our own WORST critics! I agree.

If it helps I made the yin to your yang. We just finished a quilt - didn't do the maths properly and it ended up with a too small quilt top!!! Actually - I contacted the magazine it was from and they apologised as they had printed the finished dimensions wrongly .

BUT the main thing is - this quilt is absolutley lovely!!!!! HONEST.

It is a stunning piece - the brown makes me think of horses and deserts!

It just looked way better in my mind. When I look at it in reality it just looks like this red, white and blue blob in a sea of beige. :) Probably would have looked better as a smaller quilt with some nice borders. This was supposed to be a couch quilt but ended up 90 x 90.
It's a beautiful quilt, and I can see why your husband loves it! Texas is a big state; why shouldn't it be a big, beautiful quilt?!

Ahh but the question is does your DH like it? If he likes it that is what counts.
