ok, I was following along quietly, working with my daughter on this in secret... the jig is up, tho ~ we tried the method of sewing around all four sides and cutting diagonally... so many people say they like this method... now we sewed a row together tonight with sashing, and we're getting wavy-pucker stuffs going on... I have been quilting long enough that I didn't see that comin' and it hit me like WHAM!
I smoothed them out by hand on the ironing board, and I think they'll be ok once we start smoothing onto the batting... but my daughter was trying to do a quilt up for one of her BFFs whose b-day party is this coming Friday. Now I am not sure if there's a better method to doing the HSTs?
I have done some complicated stuff before, I cannot believe pinwheels will be my demise!

I really like your pattern Betty B maybe you could give a tute on how to do this or is there a name for the pattern where I could find out just how to do this? I can probably figure it out but would be way easier if there was already directions somewhere. I think it is really neat.

I am running way behind on my pin wheels! I am using some 4" squares in all florals with a light solid or tone on tone fabric for the other part of the block. I bought about 12 bundles of these 4" squares back in late '99 and early 2000 that one of the LQS in Anchorage Ak was selling for a melinneum quilt. They sold a bundle a month for about 14 months. Each bundle had around 135 squares in it. I decide this pin wheel project was a good way to use some of those up. I have alread made 4 patch blocks out of the squares that looked to be fall colors or fall prints.
Going to JoAnn's tomorrow to look for my other pin wheel fabric. Then I will get going on them.
