I think it all depends on your budget. Babylock makes the Crescendo (sewing only) the Unity (combo) with 11 1/4" throat. But you are talking $4K plus. The Symphony has an 8 1/2" throat. The Jane and Juki straight stitch have a 8 1/2" throat for $1K or less. These are the ones I have experience with.

I have a Janome 7700, with an 11" harp and a real useful built in walking foot.

The dual feed (walking) foot attaches differently and doesn't have that extra arm that others have to move it along. Overall I'm very happy with the machine. It has a much higher list price but you should be able to strike a deal with a dealer to get it for around $3,000. Trying to find pricing and what was reasonable was the hardest part of my purchase. Dealers do not advertise the price on this machine. Others on this board were helpful in letting me know a range to look for. As I understand it Janome will not allow this machine to be sold on-line.
This is true. I bought a demo from my dealer for around 3k out the door and they included classes on the machine. I love the machine and table. I am still learning all that she can do.

I have the Janome 8900 and highly recommend it. 11" harp, 9mm wide stitch--this is a beautiful machine.

I have the Babylock Crescendo, love it! Harp is 11.25 on her. The Aria also has the large throat, but less features than Crescendo.
