Default Barn Yard Quilts

I want to share with you all an idea I had for my birthday. I will be 55 this month, we moved last Oct into a house that has a huge backyard. Therefore we have lots of blank empty picket fence space available. So, for my birthday I have asked my family members (mom & dad, brother and SIL, cousins and our daughters) to paint a 2X2 piece of treated plywood (that I have already painted white in exterior paint), with a barn yard quilt pattern, of their choice.

I gave them the plywood and the assorted outdoor paints and a link to Pinterest to search out ideas of their own. I can't wait to get them back from them and see what they did! My 94 year old Grandmother even got in on the idea, she too loved to quilt, in fact she taught me to quilt. She loves flowers so I chose a Grandmother flower garden to paint. But to make it easier for her, I purchased pre cut hexagons shapes and let her help me paint them in different colors. She was VERY adamant about the center having to be yellow. So each of the hexagon flowers will have yellow centers. I am most thrilled that she and I painted these together.

Just thought i'd share this with you all.

What fun and a great idea. Since the shrubs died on the one side, I have a rather empty fence line and have access to plywood...
