The seller says it is from 1906.

The serial number appears to be W1355243.

I can't find a W serial number anywhere.

Any ideas? He says the motor runs when you plug it in and it comes with a case for $60.00.

Can't help with the number/age, but I think there's a fix for the constant running while plugged in problem. There is some relay or switch in the foot controller that can be changed. Or possibly just try it with another foot controller, if you have one.

Bentwood case? Does it come with a knee lever that slips in.

Do you have a photo of the serial number? They appear often to have been somewhat "sloppily" stamped in with the numbers in and out of alignment. Perhaps it's a double-struck "V" that looks like a "W" -- all of the V machines were made in 1908-9.

Are parts available for this model if needed?
I have been reading about it and it is a "shuttle" system, but I don't understand the difference between that and a regular machine?

Long shuttle bobbins are available and some other things. If it is a 27 or 127 it will take low shank feet. This is a a straight stitch only machine. Since you said it had a motor, it is possible that it was a later refurbished machine.

I have suddenly acquired several old machines (they followed my home, can I keep them?). I’ve been able to find everything from hand cranks and slides, to complete accessory kits on EBay or from Recommendations from this group. If they aren’t being made, they are salvaged parts. My “Memphis decaled machine is a 27, but I’ve seen one being rehabilitated that is being called a 127.

The shuttle is the bullet shaped things that holds the long bobbins. Singer made varients of long bobbin machiens into [ATTACH=CONFIG]617109[/ATTACH]the 1960s. The slide is one of them that will be under the needle.
