I prefer to buy the 96" wide roll, and then buy a few packages of King size for the few times I make a king quilt. I use to buy rolls at 120", and I'd always cut it the the smaller dimension. IE if I had a quilt 70*90 I'd cut the batting at 80" (70+10) and rotate it, but then I'd still have a chunk on the bottom I'd be cutting off (about 80*30) and I'd save them and put them together and use them up later.

That was a bit of a drag, and now that I buy narrower batting, I don't have near the scraps left over.

I use Hobbs 80/20 batting and I think I can purchase 108" wide. I agree with everyone that it really depends on what size quilts you make.

Thanks, everyone...I did buy the 96" roll. Free delivery.
For Canadians, I got it at Dinky-Doo and it is 1/2 price right now. Hobbs Heirloom 80/20, 30 yds. Pre-order for March delivery.
That should last me awhile!

I have purchased 90" rolls of batting. But if I can afford it the next roll will be wider - 120" if I can find

yes there will be left overs but I use the left overs pieced together for Quilts for Kids quilts... works really well

Does Hobbs 80/20 look more like Cotton Batting with poly for softness, I use on long arm
