Default Images look like batik fabric?

Hello fellow quilters,

I am a quilter and an artist and I was messing around in a program and made a few images. I wanted to get the opinion of fellow quilters. Do these look like batik fabrics you would find online and/or in the quilt store? It's the look I was going for, but it would be great to get some feedback.

I am not trying to spam the group to get sales.

To me they look like hand dyes, but not necessarily batiks. Most (not all) of the batiks we find for sale these days have a pattern in them.

I agree with Dunster, these look like hand dyed fabrics, lovely but IMHO, they don’t say Batik to me. I usually use Batiks in 90% of my quilting, they are divine to work with and I love how soft it becomes after each washing. I do have some hand dyed and hand painted Batiks, but for me, those do require more thought in their use because of the variations of color. I love what you’ve done, the colors are beautiful.

These don’t look like batiks to me. I agree they look like hand dyes or possibly Stonehenge fabrics. I definitely like your images and have bought and used fabrics with a similar “look.”

I agree. When I think of batiks, I think of fabrics that have had resist patterns imprinted on them with wax, and then have been over dyed.

They do not look like true batiks to me. But I think they are gorgeous and you should just embrace what they are among themselves!

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I really appreciate it. I think I will refer to this collection as "inspired by hand-dyed fabric". I ended up doing a total of 10 for now.

I agree, they look like hand dyes. Batik is a wax resist process that is over dyed. It's different than hand dye-ing. There are a lot of videos online showing how batik fabrics are made.
