I finished one a few months ago that I started 25 years ago in a class. Time, work, etc got in the way and it just recently surfaced.

I just finished one that was about 8 years old. I'd quilted it on my old midarm longarm set up and there were gobs of skipped stitches I need to go back and fix so it had been in time out all this time.

I'm down to TWO ufos. One I want to custom longarm but don't feel my skills are there just yet and the other I need to applique 5 circles onto it before I longarm it.

It was from 1991 but that one was finally finished, of those I did 100% myself. So now that category’s oldest is 2018. The oldest only partially completed is bubble gum pink and parts are reed sacks, somy guess is 1930’s-1950’s.

I have a UFO from around 1982 or 83- but it was finished at that time. The reason it's a UFO now is that about 15 years ago I dug it out to show in an art gallery and realized that it had been damaged while in storage and needed to be repaired. The gallery wanted to show it anyway, so after the show I was going to repair it, but that never happened. It's been sitting, waiting to be repaired ever since...

The next oldest is from 2017- so not too bad, but it needs more work than what I want to put into it at the moment, so may or may not finish it. Counting those two, I've got a total of 20 UFOs (down from a high of 40 a couple of years ago).

Except for the one needing repair, all of my UFOs are in various stages of being pieced as I would rather quilt than piece, so once they get to the point where they are ready to be quilted, they tend to get done.

It may be years, but most of my current crop of UFOs will eventually get done...probably.....

Rob

ibex; I think it's a keepsake. Keep it as a memory of Gmom and your childhood. Once I finished a 20 y/o UFO. It was very hard not to rip it apart because my skills are so different now.

I just quilted my BH Frolic which was my only UFO and I think it was from 2019? I just need to hand bind it and then out of here it goes…I’m tired of looking at it. LOL

It has been finished now but I started a quilt for my daughter's high school graduation in 1987. I finished it for her 40th birthday in 2009.

I'm still working on a Hawaiian quilt I started in . . . oh, about 1989, I think it was. Nearly done now with the hand quilting. Honest!

Well, I dug out that box from 2005- opened it and peeked inside ( like I do every year) the difference this year is I actually took ziplocks of pieces out of the box and actually looked at it. Then I proceeded to start sewing. It’s still daunting and looking at the components it’s going to be the ugliest mix of colors/ fabrics but- I resolve to keep at it to completion- it’s not going back into the box.
