Welcome to the QB! from SE Michigan. Good to see you jumping right in. I love your collage. Very ambitious for a new quilter but so glad to see you go at it! One thought on the tulle. did you use a black tulle? Things seem to dull with white tulle and images seem to be bought forward with the black. Now don't ask me why this is but it just seems to happen. I learned on other collage projects I have done that the black works so much better. I can't wait to see your finished project. It is looking so great.
Again welcome to the QB. Look forward to seeing a great deal of you here.

How to Sew Art with Tammie Bowser is a good place to look. Her portrait quilts use a top layer of a thin material over the small pieces that you quilt on then take off with a hot iron. I'm in the process of quilting a portrait quilt from her method and quilting over the thin film. You attach the film with a light spray of adhesive. So far, so good. Love your rooster!

Perfect. I looked her up. She has a bunch of different books. Do you know which one describes the technique you mentioned?

ElinLewis...I've also seen people use Organza, if that helps.

I think it was just the grey over the bridle and reins...I can't recall exactly.

There is a Facebook group called Collage Quilter that has a lot of really knowledgeable people on it, if you're on FB.
