Default Grilled cheese & tomato soup

This is our “stand by” meal when it’s time to eat and nothing has been prepared.
What do you fall back on ?

I love a good ol grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup. The fallback for our house though is pancakes, with real maple syrup of course.

Scrabbled eggs and toast is one. Open faced melted cheese on bread ( Welsh rare bit)

A cheese omelet. If there are leftover veggies, I add them in, too. Toast and applesauce to complete the meal.

I grew up with Campbell's tomato soup made with milk added.

My MIL made tomato soup from canned tomatoes and milk. So there were globs of red stuff floating in white. It may have tasted fine, but I was only 19 at the time and would not try it.

I make delicious tomato basil cream soup. A can of diced tomatoes blended with immersion blender. half and half or cream added not enough to turn it white but lighter red not pink, butter, salt, onion juice or powder, fresh basil paste. Most times I use basil and garlic seasoned canned tomatoes, not stewed tomatoes though.

Our go to meal is whatever you can find you want to eat. If I'm busy or rushed I don't think about what to prepare for a meal unless someone is under the age of eight. LOL
