Martinsville, In, "The City of Mineral Water." From 1888-1968 there were up several 'Sanitariums' (mineral water health spas) where people could come and 'get the cure' for whatever ailed them.
In 1899, Eugene Shireman started Grassyforks Fisheries in here and he raised and sold goldfish. In the 1930's our town was known as 'the goldfish capitol of the world.' Grassyforks was sold to Ozark Fisheries in 1970, and the former Grassyforks hatchery here, still in use, is the oldest continuous hatchery in the world, or so I'm told.

Jamestown ny was the hometown and birth place of lucille ball. We also used to be a town with a lot of industry. Furniture and clothing factories. We have large swedish and italian populations during the times when lots of people were emigrating.

Jamestown is also on the tip of beautiful Chautauqua Lake, which is home the Chautauqua Institute, which was founded in 1874 and offers educational programs of all kinds and musical programs from classical to folk. Your being close to the Institute you probably do not realize what a gem you have that the rest of us do not.

I learned somewhere that Boston, MA is actually windier(real wind) than the fabled Chicago. I didn't know the background of Chicago's 'wind'. Ha :P
I can real testify to the Boston wind as I had cinders embedded in an eye, not once but twice, in Boston.
