It is a precious treasure and beautifully displayed. What lovely memories you must have when looking at it.

To be honest, skill and patience are really not required to make one of these. Time, yes.
It's a great pick up-put down project that can (should) be ongoing for at least a year, multiple years is better. But you plan it that way – so you don't hurt yourself by working on it constantly.
And open your mind a bit – they don't have to be bed-size. Back of the couch, table runner, bed drape, etc.
They are great fun and very relaxing. Great to do with scraps and in-between other projects. Great to do "bee-style" with other people.

How did you hang it? It is so unusual, it does look like a dress. I do love the effect and I like the way it shows off the quilt but doesn't take up an entire wall. I have a small block quilt but not the wall space to hang it.

How wonderful, you have it displayed and not tucked away.

What a lovely way to showcase her lovely quilt. I longingly look at Cathedral Window quilts and sigh and say someday...

Love your perspective, I will have to give it a try. As you say one section at a time. Who knows how far it will go.

Simply beautiful! The colors are gorgeous. I love that you remember sitting with her as she made this. What a valuable heirloom to have!
