How many places is (new) fabric available near where you live?

I don't have it as good as Klue, but I have a Joanns, WM (with fabric) and Hobby Lobby less than three miles from my house. In addition we have about 7 quilt shops in town, my favorite is about 15 minute ride, there is one about 10 minutes away. I do not lack fabric sources, just money and time.

I'm pretty lucky.
My favorites are my LQS.... one 25min North, the other, 25min South. But I can also go only 10min in those directions to a Joanne's or Walmart.
I stick with those unless I'm visiting somebody farther away.

Just commenting on prices. Just didn't think I'd live to see the day. Yesterday went to a LQS. Mind you, I had heard of prices getting to $10 a yard. Saw some on the internet. There it was, up close, in the shop, saw it in person. You know, I can't now remember which bolt it was that I looked at to see who made it.
I LOVE fabric like everyone else here, but prices like that will help cure my addiction real fast.
I know too it's inevitable and the economics of it can be explained, but the "ouch" factor is priceless.

I am 10 Min. from JoAnns. About 20 from two different quilt shops and about 35 from a Walmart that Has Fabric and the same to a Stitching Post super store. Oddly enough, I haven't been to the quilt shops in a couple years. Humm.....I think I need to make a short road trip some time soon.

Ten miles in one direction is two Quilt Shops. (Mooresville)
The other direction is Hancocks, Hobby Lobby and Ben Franklin.(Kannapolis)
Then there's Mary Jo's in Gastonia which is a nice ride down the interstate. :)
When I visit my sister in Cary there's a JoAnns.
I also have the internet at my fingertips.
I have shopped Ebay and I'm happy with my purchases.
Really blessed to have so many choices.

Hey Bear! we probably shop the same stores....
within 7 minutes of my house...3 LQSs, 2 Joanns
within 20 mintues....ANOTHER Joanns, 2 more LQSs and a Hancock
within 30 - 45 minutes (depending on traffic)...4 MORE LQSs and I don't KNOW how many Joanns or Hancocks.
Quite spoiled in the Twin Cities. I have a great local shop, one that is 7 minutes from my house, that keeps a GREAT clearance room. Always large quantities of fabrics from the same lines grouped together so you can really add to your stash. Generally $5/yard, which is not bad considering, as one quilter said earlier, fabrics in the LQSs are getting close to if not right at $10/yard. Much too much $$ for me - I probably could afford it, BUT THERE IS NO WAY I am going to pay that!

For me to get to a fabric store that sells beautiful fabric like Hoffman or Moda I have to hop on a plane and travel from Mendoza Argentina to Miami, which is the closest major US city to me from here. They do not sell good quality cotton here let alone good quality printed cottons. I do all of my ordering online now and it costs a fortune, with shipping and all. So you all don't realize how lucky you are, even if you have to drive a distance at least you can get to a store.

I live in Citrus County, FL, which is a large county in area but small in population. Yet I am very lucky in that I have 2 Walmart's and 2 quilt shops within 10 miles of my home.
I also go to Ocala and shop at Joann's and Michael's. Ocala is about 45 min. away. So I plan out everything when we go there so we can also do our Sam's shopping at the same time.

I live north of Houston, and at next year's shop hop, there are going to be 18 shops participating (at least that was the last number I heard). The closest LQS to my home is 10 minutes, as is the JoAnn's and the Hobby Lobby. The next closest is about 25 minutes from my home. The furthest LQS is probably 1-1/2 hours from my home.
