Make the quilts for you or your family and don't feel selfish! You need to have something to remember her by!

I think it is a wonderful idea. I inherited my grandmother's sewing cabinet. There were 2 pairs of red toed socks. When my granddaughters came along I made them sock monkey's.

Please do not over think this..use the scraps as you have planned ..oh and what a blessing to have your Grandma..I do not know your age..but I lost my Grandma in 1975, shortly before her 75th birthday, her death come unexpectly. Glad to hear you have great memories of her. My Grandma also taught me handwork. She sewed but did not quilt nor did my Mom. I began quilting in 1997 by watching Alex Anderson on TV

I think she would love that fact that her scraps are warming the people she loves. Just lost me dad 3 weeks ago and as we went through his house I loved the sewing box of my moms I found. She taught me to love sewing. I may never use it but love the fact that it was hers. Make you quilts and give them to family. She would understand

I believe that charity begins at home...and I am sure she would love her family to have a piece of what she enjoyed so much.

Sometimes WE get to be the charity. This is one of those times.

So sorry for your loss. I don't think your idea is selfish at all and I don't think your grandmother would have felt it was either. I'm sure her concern was that the fabric get used rather than thrown away and I'm sure she'd be touched knowing that the family wanted this keepsake of her. It sounds like you and she have certainly contributed over the years, I think it's a tribute to your Grandmother to want this for yourself and the rest of the family.
