I did...with sewing machine needle. Yes, ended up being 911 call cuz I was home alone. Yes, to the ER to have needle removed. Yes, had a tetnus shot. No, no sympathy from DH. Did I learn my lesson...I think so.

Maybe some sympathetic insurance company should offer coverage for quilters - sort of an on-the-job injury policy - payouts should be just enough to pay for some new fabric!!

Well maybe not "all the time" but I have done it and usually panic sets in until I compose myself to raise the needle, ouch. I hope yours feels better.

Thankfully I have not experienced this! Sounds painful.

I did it once on an old Singer machine. It stopped the machine and I had to remove the needle from the machine, still stuck through my left index finger and nail, and head to the ER. This is when I learned that I am allergic to Tetanus shots. Last week I ran a #11 between down under my fingernail to the bottom. I have the cutest little red line under my fingernail now!

I do a lot of hand quilting. I have broken a needle and had the broken end go all the way to the bone. Talk about taking the wind out of your sails. Luckily it was sticking out about 1/8th inch and I keep a pair of thin needle nose pliers in my kitchen. Pulled it out and cried like a baby....
