A guy I work with was building a shed and needed help figuring out what measurement to use for a board. He sketched out his problem on paper. When I came up with a number for the length of board he needed he said.... "how did you figure that out?" not believing it was the right length. I told him I was a quilter and it looked like the edge of a quilt with blocks set on point. What he needed was the length of a "set in triangle".... I was right too...:v)

You know you are a true quilter when all you get for your birthday are gift cards to the local LQS or JoAnne's.

...when you look at houses for sale and dream about where you'd put a long arm

...when you DH packs the Quilters Travel Companion in the car first thing before every trip

...when you run to the quilting book section at the library or book stores

...when you dream about new quilt designs

...when you make cut-paper quilt decorations for your scrapbook pages

...when you dream about teaching your 5-month old DGD how to quilt

...when you hear your DH promise that DGD a Bernina 830 when she starts to quilt (and you don't have one!!!!)

...when you're glad (not mad) that DH promises that machine to that sweet baby!

...when you look at your 2 year old's snow suit (as she's wearing it no less!) and realize suddenly that the color is the PERFECT match for that pink fabric that you can't find ANYWHERE...the fabric you were shorted in the Broken Star quilt kit...the kit that was too old to get replacement fabric for...and...well...come on now, guys! Winter was about over and she was outgrowing the suit anyway and who needs snow suits anymore because we were moving back to Florida...and I only needed enough for ONE diamond to finish the quilt... Well, I did it, LOL...and I was right. It was a perfect match!

Ha. I have done the first action twice. A pattern on a tile floor can be a beautiful quilt pattern, and once I had my friend wait for a while while I sketched a block from the tile floor of a rest room in another town, and then took another from an older hotel near downtown Denver. Good designs are timeless. Made a table runner from one of those designs.
