After looking at Patrice's backing.............I was wondering, how may of us press our seams open? I was always told to press them to one side. I have pressed mine open when I had an abundance of bulk, but usually I just press to one side.

So, what is everyone's preference on the seam pressing?

I mostly press them open, I think it's just a habit though after years of dressmaking!

i get pointier points when i press open so that's what i've started doing for triangles and stars. pressing to one side works best for me when i'm doing hexagons. it's an either-or when i work with other shapes.

This is how I do seams, before strip piecing I woould do this with a four patch also. When you bring eight points together, it can rally suck that center together. I iron all the same way then put my finger or eraser i the center and twist. marie
