It might take me forever, but I have done lots of handwork with embroidery in the past.
Yes, the embroidery is by hand. And you have to trace the patterns onto your fabric. A bit of a pain, but worth it in the end!

I really didn't keep track of the hours. I know I had it on the machine or over a week . . . I'm guessing 35+ hours. This was the first very heavy custom quilting job I had done, so it probably took longer than usual.

Thank-you so much. Her and her husband both piece quilts and I have been privledged to quilt most of them. This was the first heavy custom job I had done. As a LAQ, I am both honored and terrified when a customer hands me a quilt and gives me complete artistic freedom to do what I want. They gave me a BIG tip, lots of hugs, a few tears, more quilt tops AND let me borrow it for show and tell at my quilt guild!

I wish I had mine done, I would be saving the cash to have you quilt it . This is the most stunning detail work I have ever seen. Do you do mail order work?

She plans to enter it in a couple of local shows and at our state fair. I hope that it does well and if nothing else, that people will enjoy seeing it. My quilting is not really the quality needed for bigger competitions, but I'm learning! Quilting for national competitions is a whole 'nuther ballgame; and a challenge I want to take on some day!!

Question ... did all that quilting make the quilt stiff? What type of batting did you use?

Your work really made the quilt! The customer's work would not have shown up so well without your attention to fine detail.
I use Quilters Dream Poly for wall quilts. It shows the texture of the quilting well, and it doesn't get fold lines if they are packed away (as this one will be) for a time.
