Hi, I'm from WV and I've lived in Hi, CA, Chicago and Virginia; no one can ever figure out where I come from since I've been so many places. When I visit relatives in MA I can hear their accent but not so when I visit WV; just normal talk for the most part. We may call things different than some; like up there it's a bottle of pop and down here it's soda but I don't hear a difference in how it's said.

I'm not far from Lewisburg and White Sulphur Springs on the eastern side of WV. Pretty much rural.

I know. They just "don't always appreciate my Kentucky background - accent" and if I come back, where are you from? this is when I get the WV does not have an accent. Many have never been out of the state or their "home town." If you live in your little 'home area' you don't know what you sound like.

Not true, northern WV sounds like PA and if you go one down south to the Beckley area sounds like the deep south.
