I'm like others here...like traditional patterns but with more contemporary fabrics. Not into art quilts at all, at least for myself. Can appreciate the effort and beauty just not my cup of tea.

Traditional patterns and traditional fabrics...although I have recently bought some wild, bright geometrics for a very simple quilt pattern just to play:)

me too, love traditional patterns done in batiks... any pattern that is too modern looks dumb in my circa 1738 house!

Definitely seems to be more tradition. Some of the modern you look at and think no way would I do that one. lol.

Modern in that I prefer unique quilts. One off art quilts. The traditional designs are beautiful but when you've seen them a thousand times... I don't work from patterns because I don't want to know exactly how a quilt will look when it's finished - I want to enjoy the process, the journey if you like. I love quilters who take the tried and tested techniques, piecing, applique, quilting etc and use them in new and exciting ways. Like Ferret, Carol Bryer et al. :-D

I believe each has something special to offer. I love the history and charm of traditional, but I also like the zing of jewel tones and the geometric modern designs. Each offer different quilting opportunities too - but if I had to choose, I gravitate to modern stuff first.
