I had to look up "rail fence block" ... as I wasn't sure what that was ...

I was really thinking about the 9 patch ... as I figured I could do that pretty easily ...

April ... you are right ... I want to ... SO BAD ... but I haven't even gotten my fabric or anything yet to send out ...

Okay ... I'll make a deal with you ... if no one objects to the 9 patch (sorry folks it's the only thing I think I'd be comfortable making ... I might try some different ones with my own material before trying to send out a different pattern) ... I'll be number 36 ...

EDIT: Couple of questions ... what do I do with the left over material? Do I send it back with the made block? Can I use it on other blocks?

Thanks

Robin,
Welcome Aboard!

UNLESS someone states they want you to send their scraps back, the extra material is yours. I used a lot of it last time in the other blocks. I also now have a good scrap bin with big pieces to use on other projects, one of which is making flying geese for scrappy borders on other quilts.

Hugs,
MJ

Thanks MJ ... I'm both excited and scared LOL

Will that information come with the block?

Robin,
The extra material is for your scrap bin or you can add it to others if it works with the block :-)
I do not think anyone would mind a 9-patch.
And do not worry about not having your material-you have plenty of time.
hugs
April

April ... yes put me down ... I will send you my information but it may be this weekend before I pick out material to send is that okay?

I'm a purples, blues, reds kinda of person ... if you need to know that ... not picky in any case ...

Will you be sending me information as to who wants their extra material back?

It will either come with the block, or be on the spreadsheet that April sends, or they will post within this thread...

Last time it was only 2 or 3 out of the whole group. And we were new at this so we didn't know to buy more for borders (or didn't think about it until too late!)

I love 9 patch!

Robin,

9-patches RULE -- two of my favorite quilts were with nine patch beginnings! I'd LOVE to have a 9-patch in my quilt! WELCOME TO THE GROUP!!

by-the-by -- have you looked at all the blocks on quilterscache.com ? -- she has a really good (accurate) ranking system for her blocks based on difficulty. I love that site just for ideas (and daydreaming of when I can move up to the more difficult blocks)

I'm new here (to the boards and to quilting) too! So new that I'm not committing myself to any block. I'll try to let the fabric speak to me. (most likely lots of simple blocks)
