    AWESOME, this is mine!

I'm still working on yours and hope to have it finished next week. This is my first time doing blanket stitching on my machine. I hope you like it.

Chele, just checked your link on R&W quilts. Wow, I can't wait to see what our creative DQ swappers come up with. Going to put my thinking cap on---.

OOPS! This should have been posted under the January Swap!

Isn't this the cutest I spy quilt ever??? Oksewglad also sent me a very detailed letter to explain the quilt!

Gladie put together an awesome collection of things that Iowa are known for...

    In the northwest corner ...
Iowa put great emphasis on education, windmills are raising up on the prairie since alternative engergy is becoming so popular, ice cream (who doesn't love ice cream) Did you know that Blue Bunny Ice Cream is made in Iowa? (I didn't) And, John Deere one of the most common tractors and combine seen in the farm fields.

    In the southwest corner...
A farmer, Hamphire hogs fed on Iowa corn, The pheasant (Chinese imported game bird) and Iowa State University

    In the southeast corner...
A four patch of the four seasons (very creative!) Iowa is a land of extremes cold frigid winters, hot humid summers. A church for her surname and a tribute to the many empty spires on the landscape. A hot air balloon, and of course corn. In case you've never been to Iowa there are miles and miles and miles of corn!

In the northeast corner there is a patch to represent her home, a dairy farm with 110 milking cows! A airplane, Iowa was home to the world's first stewadess. A shock of wheat for Norman Borlaug, raised in Iowa and developed strains of wheat that allowed India to become an exporter of wheat. He saved millions of lives with his research. A clock, the Bily brothers carved local hardwoods in the early 1900's and there is a Bily Clock Museum in Spillville.

In the very center is the Eastern goldfinch (state fbird) and a wild rose (state flower). The oak is the state tree

She also enclosed some postcards of Iowa scenes and fabric samples from Sandy Gervais, a well know Iowa quilter.

    Gladie has made Iowa proud!

The snow has stopped a lot of people! TN comes to a standstill when it gets a dusting so with the snow yesterday it was a mess. Just glad I didn't have to get out in it.

The snow has stopped and the sun is out :!: :!:

Now to shovel the 24 inches off the driveway and wait for the snow plow to hit the streets.
